Sunday School

The Elementary I & II Sunday School Class is for 1st through 5th grades and is taught by Ronnie & Dianne Hooten. We use David C. Cook’ Bible in Life curriculum. The lessons cover both the Old and New Testaments heroes, prophets, kings, and, of course, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and His life and teachings. The students enjoy reading out loud and discussing how these stories relate to our everyday life.

The Middle High Sunday School Class is for 6th to 8th graders and taught by Mary Ann Moriles. We use the Grapple guide book and video ,Bible reading and games to teach middle schoolers different topics that are relevant to their lives.

The Senior High Sunday Class is for 9th through 12th graders and taught by Albert Coughlin and Allen Grant. We use FaithWeaver Now and discuss topics that are prevalent to our youth. Our students bring up issues that they are dealing with in their lives and we discuss Biblical truths that help them deal with them.

The College/Young Adults Sunday School Class is taught by Dock Gammage. We study by reflecting on how scripture is applied to our daily lives. We usually talk about current events and use them to relate how we are not much different than people in the Bible. Anyone is invited to take part in these “Bible talks.”

The McNair/Seekers Sunday School Class is led by Romy Moriles. A dynamic group working actively with the different ministries of the church, busybody parents raising kids while keeping their secular jobs and facing similar challenges at home, church, and workplace. It utilizes David C. Cook curriculum with the theme, “Deep Truth, Bold Faith, Changed Lives.” It finds relevance of the Scriptures to contemporary issues.

The Pacers Sunday School class is taught by Bob Lukat and is currently studying the life and impact of Martin Luther. This study is based on Eric Metaxas' biography of this reformation leader. The class is made up of an eclectic group of ages (from mid-forties to early nineties) and a wide range of social and political views. Very open discussion is rampant.

The Arnold/Bates Sunday School Class is taught by James Eason and has no upper age limit, and no one graduates to another age group. On the other hand, there is always room for new members of any age. The class is studying the history of God’s people, as found in the Bible, with explanatory notes from other sources. At present, the class is studying the teachings of Jesus in the four gospels.

Life Groups

The Lighthouse Life Group

We meet on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month at 4 p.m. at the church.  Call the Lukats or Carol Oswalt if you would like to join this group.

The Peacemakers Life Group

We meet at the church on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month at  10 a.m.

OCTUP Life Group (formerly The Tuesday Morning Life Group)

We meet every other Tuesday at 6:30 a.m. For women who like to get up early and enjoy the new beginning of the day—this is the group for you.

The Living Branch Life Group

We meet on the fourth Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the homes of the different members. This group is for men and women. Their ongoing service projects are: feeding the homeless by making lunch sacks to take to places where they know hungry people will be; providing towels and blankets to Calvary Refuge Center; and providing an updated directory of services for Clayton County residents.

The Family of Friends Life Group

We meet once a month at 7 p.m. at the home of Dock & Andra Gammage. This is a great group for those with children.  The kids are downstairs in the mega playroom while the adults are upstairs for Bible study. This, of course, comes after a meal of different flavors each month. The group uses different video Bible studies.
